Passage Island marks the entrance to Howe Sound. It is a small island located between West Vancouver and Bowen Island., 8 miles across the ocean from downtown Vancouver. The island is mostly woodland and cliffs. The often-rough waters, and lack of a public dock, keep Passage Island relatively isolated from the mainland. Access is by private boat or water taxi.
Population and Recreation
Passage Island has a few houses, and few year-round residents, but mostly consists of summer cottages. The island has spectacular views of downtown Vancouver, the University of British Columbia campus, Vancouver Island and the snow-capped mountains. There are no vehicles on the island and all the homes use solar power and capture rainwater off roofs.
