On May 2nd, 2014 the Howe Sound Community Forum met with three representatives from the Province to further explore the Cumulative Effects Assessment as a tool for Howe Sound planning.

To date, the  multiple proposed projects for Howe Sound do not have  broad social acceptance.

Woodfibre LNG could be the first export facility for shipping facility on the west coast.  There are inherent dangers in liquefying and storing some 100,000 tonnes of liquefied gas, let alone the shipping of it down Howe Sound.

Burnco has revised its Application for Information Requirements which needed to address each of the comments received from the public back in October. The request by the community and Islands Trust for proper consultation with senior management of the Ministry of Forests prior to advertising the Woodlots was dismissed.

On April 12th, 2014, close to 100 people representing 70 organizations, governments, First Nations, commercial operators, educators, etc., gathered together at Furry Creek to explore planning approaches for Howe Sound.

On 7 February, the Province moved ahead with advertising the Woodlots without further consultation with the community.

There can be no argument that Howe Sound is an awesome place, which is why there is growing number of people stepping up to defend and protect the values that make it so special.

The Province of B.C. has recently made public the phased implementation of the Cumulative Effects Framework.

Local Howe Sound Governments are invited to participate in an interactive Webinar on the Cumulative Effects Framework in preparation for Visions and Values for Howe Sound Workshop.
