The Howe Sound Biosphere Region Initiative Society is co-hosting a forum on the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals and how they relate to Howe Sound

The Canadian Commission for UNESCO responded to the Howe Sound Biosphere Region Initiative (HSBRI) working group's status report submitted November 2017 encouraging more engagement with First Nations.

The Howe Sound Biosphere Region Initiative organization is now registered as a Society, launched a website www.howesoundbri.org and Facebook page.

Howe Sound is a treasure and protection of the Salish Sea is protection for our fjord. We support the Salish Sea Trust in their efforts to achieve this legacy moment for the Salish Sea.

A report on how the Initiative is progressing since the last update in November.

We look forward to co-creating the Howe Sound Biosphere Initiative with First Nations groups and engaging all stakeholders in achieving the objectives of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organizations vision for Biosphere Reserves as a model for sustainable development.

Together with BC Spaces we have formed a committee to move the possibility of achieving UNESCO Biosphere Reserve status forward.
