The Spring 2017 meeting of the Howe Sound Community Forum members will take place on May 5th in Broughton Hall, Village of Lions Bay from 10:00-2:30. Hosts for this meeting are Lions Bay Mayor Karl Buhr and Director Maria Harris, Metro Vancouver Electoral Area A.
The meeting follows the October 14th meeting hosted by the the District of West Vancouver. The Broughton Hall, is named after former Mayor of Lions Bay, Brenda Broughton who was instrumental in forming the Howe Sound Community Forum in 2000.
The agenda for the meeting will include presentations intended to generate dialogue among the elected representatives regarding current and future projects, and ongoing studies related to the Howe Sound region. The Forum members have been following the development of projects such as the recently released OceanWatch Report – Howe Sound Edition, the Province’s Cumulative Effects Assessment for Howe Sound and other developments in the planning stages. Updates will be provided on these projects plus more.
The purpose is to provide a forum for local governments, Regional Districts and First Nations discussion to maintain and enhance the economic, environmental, cultural and social well being of the Howe Sound for the benefit of present and future generations.
Members include: Squamish Nation – District of West Vancouver – Village of Lions Bay – Town of Gibsons – Resort Municipality of Whistler – Village of Pemberton – Bowen Island Municipality – Gambier Island Local Trust – District of Squamish – Metro Vancouver – Sunshine Coast Regional District -Squamish Lillooet Regional District.
