The next Howe Sound Community Forum is taking place on October 25th in the traditional territory of the S?wx?wú7mesh Úxwumixw at The Cheakamus Centre in Paradise Valley .  The District of Squamish is hosting this gathering of elected officials, First Nations and representatives of non-profit organizations and locals who attend as observers.  The program allows more time for sharing information in the spirit of cooperation based on the mutual values agreed upon in the Principles of Cooperation.

The program includes updates from the previous forum held April 26th hosted by the Gambier Island Local Trust Committee on Gambier Island at Camp Fircom and short presentations from Fraser Basin Council and West Coast Environmental Law.

More time will be allocated for updates from each member community and the Ocean Watch Task Force. Roundtable discussions on the topic of Climate Change will explore next steps for communities that have declared a climate emergency.

Following the conclusion of the Forum’s program a walk in the woods to an authentic longhouse and surrounding rainforest ecological reserve to learn more about the Centre’s Indigenous Cultural programs.
