rockfishiconweb Many people recognize there is a window of opportunity to allow marine life in Howe Sound to recover.  Through the work of many organizations we now enjoy the return of salmon to many of our streams, an increase in herring stocks, the arrival of the Pacific white-sided dolphins, and underwater wonders that attract hundreds of scuba diver to the Sound each year.

The Marine Life Sanctuary Society, a coalition partner of the Future of Howe Sound Society feels the recovery is precarious.  Changes by the current federal Government to the Fisheries Act removes the protection and the necessary oversite that was in place.  In order to ensure we continue with this important protection of our ecosystem, they have two programs that we support.  The Stewardship program   and the Voluntary No Take Initiative.   To learn more visit their website
