Preview of Burnco’s Application for Information  Requirements

The Environmental Assessment of Burnco’s application for a gravel mine at McNab Creek is moving forward.  The draft Application Information Requirements (AIR) document was released to give a peek at what is to come.   Tthe Sunshine Coast Regional District’s Infrastructure Services Committee recently considered this list of requirements and we have reproduced them here.

The draft AIR is not part of the formal public consultation process required by the Environmental Assessment Office. The EAO is taking comments from the working group of provincial/federal/local government/First Nations at this point (deadline for working group comments was April 15).

The EAO may amend the draft and a public consultation version will be issued in the near future; and then there will be a 30 day public consultation period.

The SCRD is sending the draft AIR out to community groups now to ensure they have the time to fully participate when the public process starts.

Information about BURNCO and the draft AIR are on the SCRD website at: http://www.scrd.ca/BURNCO-Aggregate-Mine.
