About The Society

The Future of Howe Sound Society was formed in 2011. Situated minutes from Downtown Vancouver, Howe Sound has seen its share of ecological disasters and mishaps over the years.  In recent years Howe Sound has recovered from the legacy of the early mining operations in the area. This recovery is so significant that in 2010 whales and dolphins returned to the Sound for the first time in recent memory.

If you have been to Howe Sound, whether from local or from afar, you will appreciate the remarkable natural treasure that  lies only minutes from the major metropolitan area of Vancouver.  If you wish to see a comprehensive plan in place for the utilization and preservation of this wilderness area within the urban landscape of the Greater Vancouver Regional District and the Sunshine Coast Regional District, then you can support the Society and its efforts to achieve this goal.
